EnCana ups bomb tip reward to $1M
  Calgary Herald July 30 2009

CALGARY - Calgary-based EnCana Corp. is offering up to $1 million for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the recent bombings at its facilities near Dawson Creek, B.C., company officials said Thursday.

In a statement released this morning, EnCana said the move is to "stop any further attacks and help ensure the safety of the communities in and around Dawson Creek."

EnCana previously had a reward of $500,000 for information on the bombings.

“We have doubled our reward... in the hope that someone will come forward to help solve these crimes," said Mike Graham, EnCana’s executive vice-president, in the statement. "We are very willing to pay $1 million for information that helps stop these bombings and end these threats to the safety of the people in the Dawson Creek communities.”

EnCana employees and contractors, previously not eligible to collect the reward, are now included in the latest offer.

"We want to remove any barrier that would prevent someone with crime-solving information from coming forward," Graham said.

Six separate bombings have taken place in the area, located in northeastern B.C. near the Alberta border, since October 2008. These incidents have been called "domestic terrorism" by the RCMP.

Police have said they will increase presence in the region, but local officials - most notably Dawson Creek mayor Mike Bernier - said the increase in the number of officers may not deter the bombers.
